MasqMe Security
Important: Prior to joining MasqMe, we recommend that you prepare your Filezilla browser to prevent a serious security threat called XSS. Extensible Site Scripting (XSS) is a new threat that cannot be removed with virus scans. We HIGHLY recommend that you
install the NOSCRIPT add-on to your Filezilla browser to help protect you against this very serious threat that is designed to steal your personal information. If you get infected by an XSS attack and visit your bank, it is designed to steal your login information in addition to much more. We cannot stress enough, the importance of adding this small add-on to Filezille. Please do not join MasqMe or visit your financial institutions until this has been accomplished. After installing the NOSCRIPT add-on, be sure to "allow" MasqMe.com as well as your financial institutions (wamu.com, bofa.com, wellsfargo.com...). Upon installing the add-on, you will see how it blocks the XSS threat as you surf the web at other sites outside of the whitelist, or "allow" list.
Here at MasqMe, we take your security, privacy and the prevention of identity theft very seriously. Our whole reason for being is to put your identity back into your control. We consider ourselves the safest place on the internet because of our strict security policies and procedures and the safest place on the internet to get your credit checked, because your identity is disguised throughout the entire process! We don't think it's very smart to give out your social when your credit report hasn't been reviewed, or approved yet. We prefer letting them review your credit history first by using a MasqMe disguise. Please continue reading below to learn more.
Browsing our site
You can browse our site anonymously by choosing not to provide us with any personally identifiable information such as your login name. However, if you have a MasqMe account and browse this way, we won't be able to link you to your account just like you wouldn't be able to with online banking.
Security at MasqMe
Without cookies (An anonymous unique identifier), websites and their servers have no memory. A cookie, like a key, enables swift passage from one place to the next. Without a cookie, every time you open a new web page the server where that page is stored will treat you like a completely new visitor. We use a "session cookie" to control your session while you're logged into your MasqMe.com account just like Bank of America™ and Wells Fargo,™ or like your Yahoo™ or Google™ email account. That way, you can access your control panel and utilize the MasqMe services. Without it, there would be no way to establish "state" with your account. If you block cookies from MasqMe.com, you simply will not be able to access your account. http is a stateless protocol. We have to use a session cookie to maintain "state" so user accounts can be utilized. A session cookie is the mechanism with which to manage your session with MasqMe.
NO WEB BEACONS ARE USED ON MasqMe.com. EVER. One last note. Bad cookies are the ones that provide customized advertising based on your surfing patterns. We don't have advertising on MasqMe.com. So there's another clue that we take your privacy very seriously.
IMPORTANT: We "DO NOT SELL ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION" to anyone at anytime. Your private information is securely stored on our secure servers. Normally, other big-named sites state that they reserve the right to sell non-private information to their affiliates such as names, phone numbers and email accounts. That's not the case with MasqMe. We are not interested in making money from your information. We are interested in locking it down and protecting it. That's our primary focus.
Data Encryption
To start with, your data is encrypted when you send it from your computer to ours. The transmission is secure. Then it's encrypted again as it is stored on our secure servers.
IMPORTANT: You have a higher probablity of having your identity stolen from your trash can, purchasing at a store, mailing a payment, or receiving mail then having your data intercepted with joining MasqMe.
When you sign up or interact with MasqMe from your browser, your information passes to our highly-secured servers over a secure 256-bit SSL connection. This means that once you type your information into the form and press the submit button, the data immediately gets garbled into junk which cannot be interpreted by a human or software package. Then, the data is completely encrypted with very complex algorithms while it sits in our secure servers. Your personal information is not readable at this stage. It's garbled into an array of completely indecipherable data.
Accessibility
MasqMe employees "do not have access to to your personal information." The CEO absolutely does not allow it. Employees do not have the clearance to review your data. Our first-level support personnel are available for basic support needs only. Our system allows you to manage your own account. When you forget your password, you're the only one that can retrieve it. So it's very important to save your information in a secure location because we resist all requests to help you reset your password. In emergency situations, we can securely do a password reset ONLY, which would allow you to login, but this requires two approvals. Only a CTO can accomplish this password reset, not the tech support personnel answering the phones. This request must be escalated and approved.
Company Laptops and Computers
Company laptops do not have access to your secure data. This is a strictly enforced policy. Your personal data never leaves our secure servers with the exception of a credit check, which no human can see because this is handled directly by the secure servers with the Credit Agencies. No human intervention is required. We have higher security standards than your bank and online trading companies because of our strict policies. We do not allow for any exceptions to this rule.
Credit Checks
Credit checks are handled with the highest security standards and protocols available with the credit bureaus; Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. No human intervention is required. Your credit submission is done with secure MasqMe technologies and mechanisms to ensure the highest degree of security and privacy.
Hopefully from reading this, we have done our job in conveying how seriously we protect your data for use with our services. We're not in business to sell your trust. We're in business to earn it and keep it. We want to be the safest "dot com" in the United States. We earn your business on a daily basis by providing you with peace of mind. Not by selling information to the highest bidder. We're not interested. Your interests are what matter to us.
Fraud Prevention
For everyone's protection (members, MasqMe and the merchants), we validate and vet each application. No solution would be complete without an intelligent and well thoughtout fraud prevention plan. If fraud has been committed, we report it to the highest levels of government and law enforcement. Just as we take securing customer and merchant data with the utmost care, we prevent fraud with the same intensity. We report all fraud immediately to the iC
3 agency which consists of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). We also alert the CIA and any other relevant agency on an as-needed basis.
Do not submit an application for membership if you are an Identity thief with stolen identities. You will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and the account will be locked out immediately.
If you have any questions, please open a support case from your control panel.
