How Does The Identity Masquerade Work?

The Identity Masquerade is designed to secure the credit checking process so that your identity is kept private. Here's how it works if you wanted to purchase a new car:

1. Open an account with MasqMe
• Once your application for membership has been approved, we begin protecting your identity by activating the additional MasqMe services.
2. Log into your secure MasqMe account
3. Invite the dealership to become a member of MasqMe - If the merchant is already a member, jump to step 4
• Log into your control panel, enter the merchant's email account(s) in the "Invite A Merchant" module and press the submit button
• Wait for the merchant to accept your invitation
• Once the merchant accepts your invite, wait 3-5 business days for us to approve their membership application
4. Generate a secure temporary disguise using the MasqMe system
• Set the expiration of your disguise (once it expires, a credit check cannot be pulled).
5. Give the merchant your temporary disguise (phone, fax, email or in person)
6. You're done.

Here's what the merchant does once their account has been approved and is active:

1. Merchant logs into their secure MasqMe account
2. Merchant enters "your temporary disguise" into our secure system
3. Merchant receives your credit report from Experian™, Equifax™ and TransUnion™
4. Merchant approves, or denies your credit purchase based on your credit worthiness

With MasqMe, your social security number is completely disguised to prevent identity theft. At MasqMe, we don't believe that you should have to expose your social security number to non-lending entities such as salespeople, or brokers. They're not providing the financing or do not report to the credit bureaus. Why should they see it? They merely provide the product, not the loan. We view this as a security breach.
